Hydro Jetting Sewer Lines and Drains

Hydro Jetting is a very effective method that our drain technicians use to clear clogs, tree roots, and corrosion build-up that can cause drain backups.
Otherwise known as sewer jetting or hydro flushing, Hydro Jetting is a method of cleaning out pipes that involves firing a high-pressure stream of water through various nozzles to break up and dislodge clogs and debris from your sewer line. It requires an experienced technician with highly specialized equipment and can be more effective than snaking the lines. However, not all clogs need Hydro Jetting, so our drain technicians will evaluate before recommending the best cleaning method.

- Penetrate and clear away grease
- Breakup sludge and debris
- Destroy and remove tree roots
- Remove years of hard mineral scale buildup from pipes
Jetting can flush the entire drain system without digging up floors, landscaping, or tearing up walls.

Hydro Jetting isn't Always the First Step
Before a Hydro Jetter breaks through the clog, it can send a large amount of water into an already blocked sewer drainage system, causing even more sewage to overflow. The General Rooter drain technician will often open the drain with a cable using various cutting attachments. This breaks through the blockage to restore sewage flow and eliminate the backup. Cabling can also help to identify what kind of a clog is causing the drain problem and how it should be thoroughly cleaned out.
We Have the Right Jetter for the Job

Mini Jetters, which connect to a faucet or laundry machine supply hose, can only be effective in drain lines 2" in diameter or less. Using these portable jetters to clean a sewer line can push more sludge and debris against the blockage, making it even more challenging to clear. It may be able to poke open the drain temporarily, but the pipe won’t be thoroughly cleaned.
Sewer lines 3" or greater in diameter should only be cleaned by well-trained technicians with a professional trailer-mounted Hydro Jetter. Our Jetters blast over 14 gallons per minute at 4000 PSI - enough to cut through the blockage and push the debris all the way to the city sewer main.
Hydro jetting is especially effective for homes with large tree roots in their sewage lines, restaurants that can accumulate a lot of grease, and commercial buildings with high volumes of sewage.
Video Camera Inspections Remove the Mystery
If you have slow drains and reoccurring blockages, your pipes may have serious problems. By sending a fiber optic video camera down the drain, the technician can show you the clog's location and the pipe's condition. The high-definition video could find an object stuck in the line or where tree roots are breaking in. Or the inspection might identify heavy corrosion, leaks, displaced or collapsed pipes.
If your pipe is damaged, we may be able to reline your pipe to make it better than new – without digging a trench through your property. Ask us how.
Preventive Maintenance Plans

Conventional techniques, such as drain snakes or cabling, will clear a blockage temporarily but can't fully clean the pipe or flush it out to clear debris. Jetting is the only method proven to clean 100% of the sewer line. Even the toughest blockages and buildups can't stand up to hydrojetting.
